Sports Guidelines and Rules

General Guidelines

  • Every member should maintain the highest standard of sportsmanship.
  • Consult with your physician before participating in any strenuous activity. Majlis Ansarullah is not responsible for any accidents, illnesses, or injuries that may result from your participation in any activity.
  • Make sure to bring adequate supplies of your medicines.
  • Majlis Ansarullah will strive to provide the best equipment needed. Many sportsmen prefer to bring their own gear and equipment. It is strongly encouraged that members bring their own equipment for individual games like table tennis.
  • All participants must be in proper sports attire; for example, you will not run in 100 meter dash in dress shoes. Please bring sports suits and running shoes etc.
  • The team of referees is appointed by Qa’id Health and participants must abide by their decision at all times.
  • Rules for all games will be available at Ijtima‘.
  • It is recommended that teams be registered as soon possible (email name of event, names, telephone numbers, Majlis to Qa’id Health).
  • Small Majalis may join hands to form a team.
  • It is absolutely essential to maintain discipline and punctuality. Any member who intentionally creates disorder will be subject to disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by SadrMajlis Ansarullah, USA.
  • Violations of rules will be addressed and any remediation must be sought through Qa’id Health. No one shall take matters in their own hands. In any dispute or disagreement decision of Sadr Majlis will be final.

Rules for Sports Competition

Table Tennis (Singles/Doubles)

Rules:
  • For each game, the first player to reach points given under “Matches” section wins that game, however a game must be won by at least a two point margin.
  • A point is scored after each ball is put into play (not just when the server wins the point).
  • The edges of the table are part of the legal table surface, but not the sides.

Flow of the Match:
  • Each player serves two points in a row and then switch server. However, if a score of 10-10 is reached, then each server serves only one point and then the server is switched.
  • Legal Service: The ball must rest on an open hand palm. Then it must be tossed up at least 6 inches and struck so the ball first bounces on the server's side and then the opponent's side.
  • If the serve is legal except that it touches the net, it is called a let serve. Let serves are not scored and are re-served.

Matches:
  • Round one (8 pools) (one 15 point game – Eight Winners move to Quarter Finals
  • Quarter Finals (best of three 10 point games) – Four Winners move to Semi finals
  • Semi Finals (best of three 10 point games) – Two Winners move to the final
  • Finals (best of three 10 point games)

Darts
  • Round One - Elimination Round (Best of Five shots)
  • Round Two - Top Ten (Best of five shots)
  • Round Three - Final (Best of Five shots)

Horse Shoe Toss
  • Round One - Elimination Round (Best of Five shots)
  • Round Two - Top Ten (Best of five shots)
  • Round Three - Final (Best of Five shots

Basketball Hoops
  • Round One - Elimination Round (Best of Five shots)
  • Round Two - Top Ten (Best of five shots)
  • Round Three - Final (Best of Five shots)

100 Meters Race
Separate race for Saff Awwal and Saff Dom Ansar

Volley Ball
Each team will consist of 6 members.

The Serve:
  • Server must serve from behind the restraining line (end line).
  • Ball may be served underhand or overhand.
  • Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve.
  • Served ball may graze the net and drop to the other side for point.

Scoring:
  • Rally scoring will be used.
  • There will be a point scored on every service the ball.
    • Offense will score on a defense miss or out of bounds hit.
    • Defense will score on an offensive miss, out of bounds hit, or serve into the net.
  • Game will be played to 15 or 20 points as given below.
  • Must win by 2 points

Playing the game:
  • Maximum of three hits per side.
  • Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (a block is not considered a hit).
  • A ball touching a boundary line is good.
  • If any player touches the net while the ball is in play then it is a foul. In case players from both teams touch the net at the same time it would be redo.
  • You cannot spike the ball until other team makes 3 touches or ball cross the net.
  • In case two teams win the same number of matches, to qualify for the next round the decision will be made on the point difference bases.

Games:
  • Round One - Elimination Round (One game of 15 Points)
  • Round Two - Quarter Finals (One game of 15 Points)
  • Semi Finals (three games of 10 Points)
  • Final (three games of 10 points each)

    Tug of War:

    Each team will consist of 10 members:

    • Round One - Elimination Round
    • Round Two - Four Teams
    • Round Three - Finals
