Dear Parents,
Sunday classes are going well. The kids are always excited and eager. I believe we are forming good bonds to the Mosque and Jamaat and long lasting friendships with each other. There is plenty of time to socialize and play. Currently every class includes a power point presentation of Tarbiyyat related issues.
We are struggling with basic Taleem. One teacher conducts the class for a group of children between 9-15 students aged 5-13. We are in real need for more teachers to break the class into 4 age groups so that real taleem topics can be covered.
I am requesting volunteers, especially the parents of the atfal, for a short amount of time that will create an impact in our young children for the rest of their lives. Please contact me at 479-283-9559 or rawahuddin@PROTECTED if you can help.
In the meantime we are going to implement a multi teacher class on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month to start with.
Upcoming events and drives:
1. Spring Challenge
a. The national Atfal team has initiated a special 1 week challenge for atfal including salat, Quran, writing to Huzoor, reading Holy Prophet’s Kindness to Children, and memorizing a portion of the Quran. There is a prize for completion!
b. Go to http://www.atfalusa.org/kids-korner/105-contests/554-spring-break-challenge-2014 for the challenge
c. Submit completion of challenge prior to April 30th at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-poI4ES8--nzBtKf1aGKpK0h-KjGTsyzPLRZK_3L9RY/viewform
2. Arbor Day
a. The national Atfal team would like all local Aftal to be involved with projects to preserve the Earth such as Arbor Day. Details can be found at http://www.atfalusa.org/departments/waqar-e-amal-diginity-of-labor/555-arbor-week-plant-a-tree
b. I will speak with Sec Property about a project we could do as a class at the Mosque to comply with this initiative. I will update you regarding this at a later date.
3. Food Drive
a. The national Atfal team would like all local atfal to be involved with projects to help people especially as Ramadhan is fast approaching. I will set up a canned food collection box at the Mosque.
4. Regional Ijtema
a. Date: 5/11 at the Willingboro Mosque
b. Please download the ijtema syllabus from http://www.atfalusa.org/for-parents/for-your-son/ijtema-syllabus
c. Please help your tifl prepare for the ijtema. Willingboro has historically done well in sports, but we lag behind in taleem. We will work towards improving this but a one-hour class once a week will not cut it. I’m requesting all parents to actively prepare their children for educational competitions.
Thanks and Wassalam
