Ijtima Travel Subsidy

Below are the key points of need-based travel subsidy for National Ijtima 2019. Complete details can be found on our website. The intention behind this need-based travel subsidy is that we do not want anyone to miss out on the Ijtima just because he cannot afford the travel expenses.
 

• Road travel reimbursed at $0.25/mile with at least 4 passengers in a car.
   
• Rental of car/van must have prior approval (through Za’im)— reimbursement will be 75% of total expense (rental + gas). Remaining 25% is to be contributed by travelers themselves.
   
• Airfare reimbursed at 75% with a cap of $250 ($400 for West Coast)—lowest priced ticket must be purchased at least 2 weeks before departure.
   
• Tickets over $500 need prior approval from Qa'id Finance or Sadr Majlis (before purchasing the ticket).
   
• All reimbursement requests must be submitted by Sunday, October 13, 2019.
   
• No subsidy for travel less than 300 miles from Silver Spring, MD.
   
• No subsidy for hotel accommodation, meals, or parking.
   
• No subsidy for traffic tickets and incidental expenses.
   
• No subsidy for trip insurance, seat upgrade and priority boarding.
   
• No special subsidy for Shura delegates i.e. the same travel reimbursement policy (as above) applies to Shura delegates as well.
   
• Any exceptions must have prior approval (email).
   
• Reimbursement checks will be issued at the registration booth during Ijtima starting Saturday, 9/21.
