Remembering Ata-ul-Hayee Hamed Sahib of York Majlis

By Ata-ul-Bari Hamed (York Majlis)

Ata-ul-Hayee Hamed, the late son of Ata-ur-Raheem Hamed and Abida Sultana Hamed, suddenly passed away on August 25, 2020 in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania due to a heart attack at the age of 50.

He is survived by his parents, an elder sister, a twin brother, a younger brother and his son Ata-un-Noor Hamed. Ata-ul-Hayee Hamed was the grandson of Maulana Abul-Ata Jalandhri, Khalid-e-Ahmadiyya, and Mohammad Hanif, retired manager of military dairy farms.

Ata-ul-Hayee was born in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The family lived in Sierra Leona for fourteen years and then moved to Nigeria, before migrating to the US.

Ata-ul-Hayee was a diligent, persistent hard worker, leaving no stone unturned, and embodied these attributes from a young age. By the young age of sixteen, he had started his first job. Throughout his education and professional career, he maintained the same discipline and responsibility needed to balance out his work and studies, not allowing either to be dependent on the other.

Ata-ul-Hayee has always prioritized his faith above all. For example, he never scheduled for work on Friday, as he made it an obligation to attend Jumma prayers at the Hadee Mosque in Harrisburg. Punctuality was key for him, as he would make sure to always leave early for Jumma, in case he got delayed due to traffic. He regularly paid his chanda and made sure to fulfill all of his duties to the Jama’at. Even during work, he would make sure to take out the time to offer his salat and made sure to notify his superiors about making his lunch break align with Iftar time during Ramadan. Hayee had always had a great love for Khilafat and the Jama’at and would sacrifice much of his time to attend Jalsa and be always present during Huzur’s visits as well.

Ata-ul-Hayee will be dearly missed. May Allah grant him a high place in Paradise and grant his family and loved ones the strength to bear this loss (Ameen).
