COVID-19 has created many constraints in our day to day lives since it started, but it cannot limit the spirits of Ansarullah USA in conducting its important work.

This year, just like any other prior year, Ansarullah USA organized its annual Ansar Leadership Conference (ALC). The difference this year, however, was that it was entirely virtual. Two hundred and nine Ansar, including local Zoama, Regional Nazimeen-e -Aala, local and National Amila members all attended ALC via Zoom. The conference agenda included general sessions as well as five parallel tracks with the most important training content for Zoama success in leading their respective majalis. The breakout sessions were moderated by relevant Qaideen/National Amila members and Zoama from each region had the opportunity to learn, ask questions and share their best practices in making Ansar meetings and administrative processes more efficient than ever before.

One of the key highlights of ALC meetings is the announcement of Alam-e-Inami winner majlis. This year, Detroit Majlis was announced as the winner of the Alam-e-Inami. Barakallahulakum. The top 3 winners in each category were as follows:

Memories of Our Late Ismail Khaleel Nayyar Sb

By: Khalid Bilal Nayyar (Member of Maryland Majlis)

It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of Ismail Khaleel Nayyar in North Potomac, Maryland at the age of 74, on December 10, 2020. He was the first-born son of Abdur Raheem Nayyar, (ra), companion of the Promised Messiah (as). He is survived by his wife Rehana, and three children Khalid, Javaid, and Sara.

Khalifatul Masih IV, Mirza Tahir Ahmed (rt) stated in his sermon on March 17,1989; “We should record the history of our predecessors so that the coming generation may remember their good deeds”. What follows is an account of Nayyar sahib’s life and servitude for the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam. He was born on October 4th, 1946 in Bombay, India to Abdur Raheem Nayyar (ra) and Mahmooda Kark Nayyar. Abdur Raheem Nayyar (ra) was a pioneer missionary for the Ahmadiyya Jamaat in West Africa and was responsible for the conversion of 10,000 souls to Ahmadiyya Islam in a single day.

Abdur Raheem Nayyar (ra) had a revelation where he foresaw the birth of a male child, translated to the words “Rabee Jaleel, Make Me Khaleel, Grant me Ismail”. Only two short years after Ismail’s birth, his father passed away, a luminary of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam whose accomplishments were heralded across the community.

Ismail Khaleel Nayyar grew up in Bahawalpur, Pakistan and moved to the United States in 1973, where he became a member of the Queens, NY Jama'at. He served the Queens Jama'at in many capacities during his forty-year residence there. He was also a very distinguished speaker and representative of the New York City Jama'at for many decades. Some of his many accomplishments included the introduction of Khalifatul Masih the IV (rt) in his first visit to the U.S., speaking at the U.S. Jalsa Salana, instituting translation of U.S. Jalsa Salana speeches and services into English and acting as a liaison on behalf of the Ahmadiyya community with the United Nations and local politicians.  He served the Jama'at on human rights issues and brought awareness to the persecution of Ahmadis all around the world through his work with Mr. Zinda Mahmood Bajwa, who was National Secretary Umoor-e-Kharjiyya. In 2006, he published a book about the history of his father, entitled Nayyar-e-Ahmadiyyat with the help of Ahmadi historian Naimat Ullah Basharat.  Upon his move to the Maryland Jama'at in 2013, he was issued an honor for his many years of distinguished service to the New York Jama'at.

Ismail Sahib was a very kind and exemplary father, husband, brother, father-In-law and grandfather. During his lifetime, he encountered many obstacles, but he never let them deter him and he always found positives out of any challenges in life. He suffered from a rare muscular disease called Inclusion Body Myositis for which there is no cure. Upon learning of this diagnosis, the first thing he did was to schedule a trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

May Allah make this difficult time easier for his wife, Rehana Nayyar, who dedicated herself fully to look after him for years. She was instrumental in prolonging his life through many health crises. May Allah grant him elevated status in Paradise. Ameen.
