Myths of Aging Dispelled

Faheem Younus Qureshi, Sadr Majlis

Dear Ansar Brothers,

As-Salamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

See the graphic on the right. It makes the point that many of our fears about physical and emotional well-being in older years of life are actually quite exaggerated.

No surprise, that's why the Holy Qur'an calls forty the age of maturity, not decline. "...when he attains his full maturity and reaches the age of forty years, he says, ‘My Lord, grant me the power that I may be grateful for Thy favor which Thou hast bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do such good works as may please Thee. And make my seed righteous for me. I do turn to Thee; and, truly, I am of those who submit to Thee." (The Holy Qur'an, 46 [Al-Ahqaf]:16)

It's time to learn, to serve, to reform, to act, and then impart that righteousness on to our children. That is Hazrat Khalifatul Masih's expectation and that is what we pledge.

Wassalam,
